THE PROBLEMATICS OF SENIOR CHOIRS
Country: Spain
Many a conductor has led, or will lead, an amateur choir of seniors, at least once in his or her life. In this session, presenter Lucia Bérešová will draw on her own vast experience with senior choirs, exploring ideas on how to work with singers’ aging voices and bodies, how to practice creativity, and how to add an original and attractive touch to the interpretation of repertoire.
The presentation will serve as a source of insight, encouraging practitioners to think outside of the box, to be creative, to demand a lot, and never to let go of dreams. Bérešová aims to prove that amateur senior singers have the same rights as children, youngsters and professionals, and can indeed become stars of the musical scene. Because dreams do not have an age limit.
Born in Poprad, Slovakia, Mgr. Lucia Bérešová, Ph.D. is a graduate of the University of Presov with post-graduate qualifications from the Academia Muzyczna in Bydgoszcz, and a doctorate degree focusing on conducting from the Akademia Muzyczna in Cracow, Poland.
